Ask Right
Jun 08, 2026
Most of us were taught to pray by asking. We ask for the partner, the money, the career, the healing — we hold our lack up to the heavens and wait. And when the answer doesn't arrive the way we pictured it, we quietly decide the prayer didn't work.
But what if you were never meant to ask for the thing at all?
You see, the wrong mind of ego thinking sits at the effects of the shadows of sin. The idea you are separate and not the same. You must learn to change the cause within - some aspect of the belief in guilt that calls forth pain, punishment, and problems.
Here is the difficulty. The part of us that does the asking — the ego, the wrong mind — is the very part that lives in lack, loss, and limitation. It can only ask from inside the problem, so it asks for more of what it already believes in: more proof, more striving, more of the shadows.
You might believe you need a new career, one with prestige and perfect pay. But forgive within, and you may discover that what you truly need is a healthy dose of self-belief — the confidence and courage to reach for the stars instead of staying with the suffering of the shadows. The wrong mind wants the career. The right mind reveals the courage. They are not the same thing.
This is why so many prayers feel unanswered. We keep asking the wrong mind to hand us what only the right mind can give.
A true prayer removes the barriers
A true prayer does not entreat. It does not beg, bargain or plead. A true prayer removes the barriers to the truth of Perfect Love that is already within you.
"Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." — Rumi
That is the whole of it. The love, the peace, the wholeness you are reaching for is not somewhere far off, waiting to be earned. It is already here — covered over by guilt, by the belief in separation, by the shadows you have not yet been willing to look upon. To ask right is to stop reaching outward and start clearing inward.
How you actually ask right
This is where The Treasure Map comes in — a true prayer you walk, question by question, using the simple practice of the 'I Forgive' principle.
You drop your awareness down, out of the busy brain and into the lower gut, and you begin to forgive what you find there. Not the surface thoughts the ego keeps offering up, but the layers beneath them — the guilt, the lack, the old stories of separation. Each layer you meet, you meet with Truforgiveness, never judgment. You follow the FAITH within: Forgiveness, Authenticity, Introspection, Trust and Honesty.
It can be uncomfortable. The darkness you encounter is precisely the darkness that has been dimming your light. But if it is within you, it cannot be anywhere it isn't able to be healed. So you forgive it, layer by layer, until the barrier dissolves and the light pours through.
You are not adding anything. You are removing what was never true.
From separate to the same
The goal of asking right is not a shinier version of the same dream. It is to move from separate to the same — to remember the Self that is whole, holy and happy, at One with Perfect Love.
When the barriers come down, you no longer need to ask for anything, because you have been returned to the mind that already holds everything. Being and having cannot be parted. As you remember who you truly are, what you genuinely need begins to arrive — not because you begged for it, but because you finally stopped standing in its way.
That is what it means to ask right. Not to reach harder, but to forgive deeper. Not to change God's mind, but to change your own.
